I absolutely love a good mascara primer and wear one or two every day underneath my mascara "cocktail". I have used the essence brand Volume Boosting primer in my rotation for several years and was excited to see a new addition to the lineup; especially at this price point because there aren't many and I prefer mixing them up for better coverage and to maximize the products. This is formulated and named under their best selling Lash Princess line but by no means does it have to be worn with those mascaras or even Essence brand at all. Honestly, I've only worn it with other brands so far and it has been awesome! The actual product is a mint or seafoam green shade (hence my hasty attempt at artistic photographs) but does not show through mascara. I've yet to try and see if it could be built up to wear alone as a mascara in this shade but a solo coat dries pretty sheer/ clear. I've been using this almost daily for about two weeks and have tried it alone with mascaras, in conjunction with the essence volume primer and along with some "prestige" brand primers under mascara and it has worked every time giving added length and volume that lasts over 24 hours but is still super easy to remove. As with all primers, I highly recommend going slightly against most instructions which state to let each coat dry completely before applying mascara because this never gives me good results; rather, I usually end up with crunchy lashes that are clumped or hard to manipulate. This is hands down one of the top reasons people avoid these products and it's a shame because it is cheaper than extentions or wearing falsies every day and easier / faster to apply. Granted there are definitely some faux lashes that just can't be replicated with product alone but with creativity and multiple items you can achieve a faux lash appearance.I digress and want to NOTE (I forgot to state I only use non-H2Oproof formulas so I'm not referencing experience w/waterproof mascaras)- After curling (optional) lashes & / or applying the initial layer (or 2) of this primer or two primers, let product get a slightly "tacky" but not dry (think about lash adhesive only it doesn't take as long) then apply the first coat of mascara. You can stop here or continue to layer as before making sure to wait a few seconds in between without allowing each layer to dry completely. Don't be scared of applying more than two or even 3+ coats of mascara as it isn't going to cause harm nor will it be harder to remove. Plus you can always comb through lashes with a clean spoolee or lash comb to remove excess product.

This primer is very good to use before putting on my Lash Princess Mascara. It conditions my eyelashes and makes them stand out. I Love It!!

Honestly, for a primer it worked nicely. Took a bit to dry, so had to wait to apply the mascara after. The only issue is (which i seen in other reviews as well...) You can see the green color of the primer on some of the lashes even after you apply the mascara. Which just looked odd. It didnt matter how much mascara i applied, you could still see the green tint from the primer showing through on my lashes. Okay product. Probably would not repurchase..

I’m impressed with the results. The formula is lightweight, goes on smoothly, and doesn’t clump or feel heavy on the lashes. I noticed a definite improvement in both volume and length when layered under my regular mascara. My lashes look fuller and more defined throughout the day.
