Arrived defective, but GREAT customer service
Arrived defective. My IT people advised me to send it back, which I did. That was a major hassle because it contains a battery and could not be returned, but the seller quickly responded and sent an RMA and return label and it went back. My IT people told me it is a good product when it works right and recommended that I buy it again. So I did, but the price went up by $16. Not happy, but I have not given it one star because they were quick to send the return instructions. I will try again and hope for better luck this time.It is intended to protect a server. I like the fact that my IT experts can monitor it without physically coming in. I suppose this is a back door into my system, but I find it very useful. Hopefully the next one will work properly. I will update this after the new one is installed.ADDENDUM:This is a story of 5-star customer support. The product is good. I am not an expert and I do not have much to say about this product, except that it was recommended by my IT experts. The product was ordered on August 17 and arrived defective on September 1. Amazon currently takes about 2 weeks to deliver this item. One feature is that it can be connected to an outside IT monitoring service, and this did not work. So I went to Amazon to start a return. Amazon said that this product was not eligible for a return. What? $450 product and I could not return it? Was I stuck with a defective product? So, through Amazon, I found a way to contact the seller. Within an hour they issued an RMA and instructions for a return. We followed the instructions and returned it.I commented that I would like a replacement, but did not receive any confirmation that I would get a replacement. So I assumed I would get a refund. My IT experts still said that this was a good product and to order it again. It was highly recommended to protect my expensive server and we were seeing power outages due to unusual 112F high temperatures. So, on September 3rd I went to Amazon and re-ordered the same item again. I was disappointed to see that the price had increased. Within a short time the new Smart UPS arrived. The IT experts installed it and said that it was working properly with no problems.I waited a few days and saw no refund. So I sent an email to the seller to ask when I would get my refund. They replied quickly to tell me that they had sent a replacement and that there was no refund. They sent the tracking number to prove it. I researched the tracking number and found that we had received and installed the replacement, and that the new Amazon order was still on its way. The seller had shipped the replacement the day after they issued the RMA, and before they had actually received my return! So, now I realized that I was going to have 2 of these and I only wanted one! The seller told us to refuse delivery when the 2nd one came. It has not arrived yet (Sept 22). So, I am hoping that the seller has managed to turn the delivery in progress around. The seller has been amazing with quick replies to my emails and prompt service throughout this episode. I highly recommend them. 5-star recommendation.

Great UPS, it does support apcupsd and NUT!!
No issues. Nice and quite. Has worked with every power failure without flaw. Nice long battery life at 30-35% load I put on it.I noticed a few reviews talking about you can't use NUT or apcupsd with it and having to use the network cloud service. Not true. I don't have mine connected to the internet and instead use the USB port to connect to my server that monitors it with apcupsd. I can send this data to influxdb via telegraf, as well as configuring apcupsd to shutdown when battery % reaches a certain point. You do have to read the manual though, there's a part that tells you how to go into the settings and turn on all the details. If you don't do this, you won't see load %. Same is true for NUT if you prefer to use that.I have two of these so far. One for network equipment, and one for TrueNAS server. Keeping load at 350≤ watts gives a nice long runtime in the event of power failure. The TrippLite UPS I had a very poor runtime. I tried to save money thinking it would be fine for my network equipment. Ended up getting another SMC1500-2UC, and using the TrippLite as battery backup for my 30W computer. The battery are heavy. Install after you rack mount it. I ended up buying rails for mine because I didn't like how it sagged with just a connection to 2-posts in my rack.Helps to read the manual about the apcupsd stuff. I also set mine to keep the screen on all the time. Not super user friendly. But UPS devices never really are in my experience.

An industry standard
This APC UPS is a solid choice for keeping your critical equipment running smoothly. It provides reliable power protection during outages and handles minor voltage fluctuations seamlessly. The software is easy to use and gives you good control and monitoring options. While it's not the cheapest option, the peace of mind it provides is worth the investment, especially if you rely on your electronics for work or entertainment.

not what they used to be
I've used APC products for over 20 years and I have gradually watched both the quality and capacity of these devices decline over the years. It's a shame really because the more they try to "improve" by adding unnecessary features the more they lose the core features which made these both extremely reliable mission-critical units. in the 1st place are capacity and reliability. sadly that reliability and bulletproof operation is in my opinion no longer a viable feature of these units. As I sit here writing this review I just experienced a power fluctuation (dropout) and the unit not only did not recover quickly enough but even the front panel began flickering with the fluctuation and my monitors went black. After rebooting I finished writing this review. I have some much older APC units which would have never behaved like this. It sad really that companies who produce quality equipment suffer from what I can only consider bad marketing decisions affecting quality in the end.
