I bought this for my daughter for her last minute school project. Got here just on time. Great quality.

Just received and my son, who is autistic has been building the different configurations non-stop. Two main reasons for the 4-star: 1-one of the light bulbs did not work. 2-the instructions are on a small pamphlet. Considering this is meant for 8-12 year-olds, it seems sensible that the instructions with diagrams etc would have been on much larger paper.

There are 2 safety hazards.1 if you have the batteries in the battery holder and you use the motor with the red on it and you connect the black wire then connect the red wire it sparks.2 if you have the batteries in the battery holder then put the red and black wires together they turn red and burn each other.

Dangerous! I bought a couple of these to use with my summer camps and beginning discussion on circuitry. However, in less than 2 minutes of using the battery packs, the one started smoking and upon further inspection the cords melted together. The other one took a few minutes longer, and even with the children trying to keep the cords separated, they melted.However, I did really enjoy the alligator clips to help children with fine motor skills and not need to twist wires together.
