Great product.
I bought this as a replacent for an old (10 years) handheld Dremel. If you use a Dremel regularly you won't regret purchasing this. It has plenty of power and the speed control works great. The flex shaft is very sturdy. The hand piece is easy to hold and control. The only thing I can think that would make it better is a quick change chuck.

This thing is the real deal people!!
Ive used a dremel tool for an hour or two a day for the past 5 plus years and have burned up a couple of the 12v cordless dremels and one standard corded model which sent me on the hunt for an industrial grade rotary tool. And this hanging tool is where i landed. These hanging tools are every bit as manageable as the cordless variants but the real advantage is the operation via the foot pedal. The unit is on and whenever your ready to work just ease the pedal down as far/fast as you need and the amount of low speed torque this thing has is crazy. With this much more speed and power projects take a fraction of the time. You do lose the keyless chuck thing but the trade off is worth the few extra seconds it takes to manually chuck your bits

A big disappointment!
I've used rotary tools in my art business for 25+ years. I branched out from engraving glass and metal and started power carving wood, so I decided to get away from smaller hand held machines and invest in a heavy duty pendulum machine. I bought 2 and in less than 50 hours on each machine, the flex shafts disintegrated. Without a flex shaft, these machines are useless.. and guess what... Dremel NO LONGER makes a replacement flex shaft for this series!!I've heard that flex shafts from other manufacturers can be adapted to fit but I shouldn't have to go to that trouble. I've got 2 smaller cheap HF Chicago Electric machines that are 15 and 20+ years old with hundreds if not thousands of hours of use. They're not as powerful as I'd like for heavy power carving, but at least they're dependable. It amazes me that dremel STILL sells this series and offers NO support. I want to be clear that I have no issue or complaint with the seller... Only with Dremel. Please don't waste your money folks.

I've been waiting for this Dremel
This is the best Dremel ever. I am a technician that is spoiled with a $2000 japanese rotary tool. This is the closest thing I could find for a decent price that comes close to the functionality I am used to at work. This tool is geared more to a shop and the steel housing represents this well. Changing bits is easy and it accepts multiple sizes. The pedal seems nice too, the speed control is very smooth. This tool also has a good amount of torque, I have yet to slow it down even on tough grinding tasks. The best part about this tool is that it is there when I need it. I always have a use for this to create or modify some project around my studio and house.

((PRO)) The assembly was very easy and the machine was quieter than the Dremel 3000 ...
I make American Indian pipes from Catlinite stone and bought this just for that. ((PRO)) The assembly was very easy and the machine was quieter than the Dremel 3000 with cable I had owned. I like the pedal and makes carving a dream and the speed is more than enough for what I do((CON)) The 3000 has a push button/twist open chuck and the 9100 has a chuck key. The key works great but it is a hassle to turn the hand piece to a certain point to get the key to fit. There is no place to put the key once you are finished. The 3000 allows the bit to be placed 95% of the way into the chuck and the 9100 only allows the bit to go 50% of the way in. The 9100 cable is not as flexible as the 3000. You will, have to play with the height of the motor before installing the holding bracket to get the best positioning of the cable when working. The Pros outweigh the ConsWould I recommend you buying it or me buying another one? In a heartbeat
