The Worldly Philosophers: The Lives, Times, and Ideas of the Great Economic Thinkers Audio CD – Unabridged, March 1, 2013

Very informative ... should have read Heilbroner before Adam Smith, Thomas Sowell, and some other classics. Worldly Philosophers provides context for "how we got here" ... other bricks can be laid on the foundation after reading Helibroner first.

Robert Heilbroner's classic book is the BEST way of getting an introduction to Economics. After that you're ready for Robert Reich's books like SUPERCAPITALISM and BEYOND OUTRAGE. To get a good education you have to master the five "R's": Readin', 'Ritin', 'Rithmatic, and the 2 Roberts.

This is a review of the Audio Book version.The print version of this book was part of my High School Economics class in 1992. It is an amazing book that puts the history of the era of each economist into perspective. Each chapter is engaging.There is a reason why this book has been reprinted so many times. It is thorough but amazingly accessible. I read, and then returned to re-read this book in its entirety at least twice post college. Sadly just as another reviewer pointed out this CD version is disappointing, The narrator seriously sounds like an AI robot!While the authors content is all here, She made an incredible book a very dull listen. I should get the residual from this narrator because I was willing too listen to her disengaging and monotone narration.

We bought this as it was highly recommended by a businessman who uses it as his mission statement. My son and I are currently reading it.

Great listen. An interesting Journey through some world history.

Terrible book copy. Heavy felt pen underlining. Ball point underlining on top of felt pen underlining. At least 150 pages (half the book) marked up. Give me a break.

1) I thought I was buying a hard back book, and 2) I would call this book fair rather than good. It is moderately underlined and the pages are brown. These complaints might reflect misunderstandings on my part.

The reader of the book sounded like an artificial voice. Didn't help me stay engaged in the stories.
