Great for problematic algae
Our 40 gallon tank was constantly having algae problems. This pump within a day cleared the tank and has kept it clear.

Just bought my 3rd one.
I started out with one of these when my turtles were in an aquarium. Bought a second when they upgraded to a stock tank so I could have a clean filter in the aquarium. Now that they are adults I’m adding a second filter so I can have one filter at each end of the tank. The filters are quiet, easy to clean, and have stood up to the turtles “rearranging their furniture constantly.” I have mine fully submerged and laying horizontally due to the setup needed for my turtle breed and these filters have worked beautifully.

Pretty good!
Quieter than I thought. I’m not sure the purpose of the air hose and I wish the label was on the back so it’s not visible but it’s flowing water nicely in my 30 gal so far and it’s quieter than I thought it would be.The attachment to the back wall is kinda upside down IMO you have to slide the connection up which allows the weight to slide out should be the other way around but I managed to get it to stay out after a few attempts. Worth the price.

It doesn't have suction
The poop just didn't move a millimeter from where it was deposited. 3 days...the sponges had nary a brown spot.So I took out the sponges thinking that was stopping the intake of stuff...and put polyfill, very lightweight and absorbent which I have in the bottom on my Penn Plax 600s ...to no avail. So a brainstorm occurred, thinking it was the bottom piece restricting the flow, it should be a slotted bottom like most other bottoms. I removed the bottom piece and cut a piece of plastic mesh to fit the bottom opening...photo 5. The result was...nothing. More unmoving poop as seen in photo 2 that was removed with a turkey baster from right under and around the filter. It simply lacks power to suction. You would think SOMETHING would have gone in but nothing ever did. I may keep it, fill it just with just carbon to remove ammonia. It is easy to open up and clean but doesn't get dirty! Clever design but needs a different bottom piece and much more suction.

Worth the price! Great filter!
I have quite a few fish tanks. They range from 10 gallon to 125 gallon. I have never had any issues and always used canister filters with a combination of additional sponge filters. After moving my tanks into my new home I had a bedroom for the two bigger tanks and just having like a "fish room". It was closer to the window and even after putting black out curtains it was still causing the tank to evaporate water faster and get super cloudy. I had tried everything and nothing seemed to be working. I got this filter yesterday and by this morning it was SO clear. I haven't seen it that clear since before I moved. Thank you so much! I got this for a cyber Monday deal so it was 50% off and I am going to buy additional ones for my other tanks. If you are thinking of getting this, just do it! I had something similar but it was a "green machine UV killer" and it does nothing compared to this one. This one also is super easy to clean and take apart. :)

Great filter.
Works so good that this is the second one I have bought. We use them in cold plunge therapy tanks, so they run nonstop in 45 degree water and keep the water clear. They do a great job of killing germs and filtering out debris.

Saved my turtle tank
I have a very large aquatic turtle who makes his tank NASTY. It starts looking like a swamp very quickly. A regular tank filter just wasn’t cutting it and the amount of money I was spending on the filter replacements was ridiculous. I bought this filter hoping to save some money on filter pads and get the tank cleaner for longer and it ABSOLUTELY did both of those things. Cleaning it out is really easy (I just take it apart, spray everything off really well with the kitchen sink sprayer, and clean out the sponges with turtle sludge destroyer), it keeps the tank clean for around a month before it ends up needing to be cleaned out, and it doesn’t make any irritating noise. My only small complaint is that because it’s easy to take in and out of the holder, my turtle has figured out that he can hit it a few times and knock it out, so we end up fishing it out of the bottom of the tank every now and then. I think its completely worth it though!
