WFCO WF-8955PEC Converter/Charger 55 Amp Power

I hooked up my trailer accidently to 220volts. Lots of white smoke from the inverter. It sill worked but had a very loud 60Hz buzz and smelled burned, so I decided to replace the inverter module. It was cheaper and easier to buy this entire power center and simply slip out the inverter module and install it in the existing power center. Took maybe 30 minutes total. Now everything works great again, and I put the new shiny cover on, too. Very happy with the purchase.

Would we need the whole unit to fix our problem? we were not sure, so we ordered the whole unit, then just used the inside panel. This meant we only had to reconnect 4 wires, not 30 some for the whole panel. but we had the whole think just in case. Win Win.

I ended up only using the converter out of this so I probably could have saved some money buying just the converter but it was worth it to have power again in my RV after frying the original one by plugging into an outlet that was incorrectly wired.

I had this go bad in my camper because I mistakenly hooked up to a 220V power supply instead of a 110V. Whoops. This unit came with everything but the fuses and labeling. All I did was disconnect the power converter and circuit board from the new unit and connected it to the existing unit; made things much easier than replacing the whole unit in my opinion, but that might not be an option for everyone.

So far love this converter. Converted my cargo trailer to a toy hauler and switched it from just 110v 30 amp to this. All my 12v circuits work great. First weekend out last weekend and loved it.

For a non electrical person, all the wires looked scary. Before removing the old unit I took pictures of all the wires. I then put labels on each wire before removal and took more pictures. I didn’t know how to pop the old breakers out and ended up damaging them and replacing them. You might get some advice on removing them if you don’t know how to save replacing them. The unit works well. Even a green horn can do it if you take your time and generate good records.

I didn't need the whole unit, took the converter out and replaced my old one. Worked great.
