Compact, Powerful, and Incredibly Smart – A Must-Have Charger!

I’ve been using the NOCO GENIUS5 for a few months now, and it has far exceeded my expectations. This charger is compact and lightweight, but don’t let the size fool you—it’s incredibly powerful and packed with smart features. What I love most is how effortless it is to use. It automatically detects the battery condition and applies the right charge—no guesswork involved. Whether I’m charging my car, motorcycle, or even maintaining a boat battery, it handles everything smoothly. The “Repair Mode” is a game-changer. I was able to revive an old battery I thought was dead! It also supports lithium and AGM batteries, making it versatile for any vehicle. If you need a reliable, smart, and safe battery charger that does more than just charge—this is it. Definitely worth every penny.

Well worth purchasing.

This is one of the best chargers I have ever had. It is small (light in weight), yet very powerful. It has options for lithium, or regular batteries, and different voltage. I was so surprised to find that it repaired my battery that was damaged (unsure why it was damaged), and it worked incredibly well. It also will not allow overcharging -- a very nice feature. Cords are long enough so no need to worry about that. The indicator lights tell you where it is in the charging process, so that is really nice, and turns green when it has completed the process.

NOCO GENIUS5 compared to Schumacher SP1296

I've used Schumacher SP1296 trickle chargers for many years now, on multiple vehicles and pieces of equipment. Recently I switched all of them to the NOCO GENIUS5 and it's better in every way!On all of the Schumacher chargers I've had, (and that's been a LOT of them) the cord has eventually frayed and broken where it exits the charging unit. On the NOCO, the cord has a rubber reinforcement where it exits the unit, extending the life of the cord. I've included photos of the NOCO (black) and the Schumacher (red) for reference. The Schumacher chargers I've had were dependable and functioned well, but their cord design was a major design flaw for me. Multiple times, It forced me to replace the units before I should have needed to buy new ones. The NOCO is slightly heavier and more compact in size than the Schumacher. The control has more functions and is easy to use. The NOCO display is aesthetically more pleasing and easier to read than the Schumacher. The NOCO also has an on/off switch which is nice. I always use the eyelets to connect to the battery. The charger connection to the eyelet cord has a click type plug to lock it in place, unlike the Schumacher which just presses together. Should you want to use the battery clips, the NOCO clips are bigger and stronger than those on the Schumacher. The only negative aspect of the NOCO that I found was that, according to their user manual, "This product is designed to work in ambient temperatures between -4°F and 104°F". This has not been a problem for me, even when used outside in northern Vermont. It does get below zero here, but typically not for extended periods of time. As long as the charger is kept on the battery, and it's always fully charged, that temperature limitation hasn't been an issue for me.Overall, the NOCO GENIUS5 appears to be a higher quality and better built charger than the Schumacher SP1296. I am very satisfied with their product, and I highly recommend it.

Great product - works as advertised

I had a prior trickle charger that just up and stopped working. By the time I realized it, the car battery was dead. Like totally dead. Well, I researched products to restore the battery and recharge it and decided to purchase this one. I followed the instructions on plugging it in, but with a dead battery, I kept my hopes in check. Well, the product lived up to its hype - in less than 1 day my battery was back to full charge and the car cracked over first try! I have it connected now since we don't drive that car very often and this is a smart trickle charger so I feel like it will maintain the battery better. Easy to use and definitely built in safety. The status lights are great too. Definitely worth the money. Would buy again.

A bit pricey, not a switch mode, connectors strange

I was delighted when I realized the product weight indicated a real transformer and not a switch mode power supply. The wiring feels robust. The battery clams have a wide bite, wonderful for those large battery posts on the auto restart cars. One of the pictures shows what all came in the box. I was interested in the wall mount and no seller offered a photograph. The unit snaps into the mount and is held in place by Velcro. The biggest negative is the waterproof proprietary two prong connector. This is a locking waterproof connector. The last thing I want on a float charge is a locking connector to rip the wires out and the device off the wall if I forget (and I have) to unplug before leaving the garage. In addition this connector is not compatible with any other SAE 2-prong connectors you may have in house. I will be cutting off the stock connectors and replacing with standard SAE for safety reasons. I will report back when I measure the wire gauge.Lastly, when I plug the charger into the car only one indicator light on the charger comes on telling me the battery is ¼ charged. I measured battery voltage at 12.55 volts which is actually about 80-90%. The instruction manual only offers basic instructions.Packaging, it is well packaged make room in the recycling can.Update: 4APR25, wire conductor appear to be aluminum wire, appears close to 16 gauge, the battery clamps are wonderful, wide bite. Notice when returning a AGM automobile battery back to charge, the charger initially indicates battery level at 1/4 charge. Actually batter measured 12.6v closer to 90%. In about 15 minutes the charger catches up.
