Has Changed My Life!

That title might sound a bit like an exaggeration but it's really not. I live with every pot, pan, plate, utensil and restaurant range benefits a girl could wish for in a kitchen, but.....you knew there had to be a "but" right? I'm tired! I'm getting older! I don't want to clean pots, pans and spend hours cleaning stove tops and parts any more! I want meals to be simple, quick, easy but still tasty but above all else I DO NOT want to spend an hour every night cleaning up the mess and at least once a week taking the top of the stove apart to clean every square inch of the burners, grates, etc!My life has changed! I have been cooking with this new combo for over a month now and I'm just plain thrilled! Here's how I simplified everything. I had my husband build a wood panel the size of 4 burners on my 6 burner plus barbecue Viking Range. My electric skillet sits on that board. My burners stay clean underneath and all I have to do is wipe the wood panel off. I still have two burners when push-comes-to-shove or it's not efficient to use the Zojirushi ...that has not happened very often except boiling up a couple of eggs or heavy duty searing of a fillet steak which I prefer in my cast iron pan.So far I have seen no downsides to the pans except maybe they will scratch easily. I managed to nick the big pan on a hot water dispenser along the top edge one night when cleaning up. I somehow managed to put a very tiny nick in the top edge of the smaller pan, not sure how but have not seen any damage to the inside of either pan. I use nothing but silicon tongs, ladle or spoons on the inside when cooking or when picking things up from the pot. I have used a wooden spoon a couple of times but mostly the silicon tools. No signs of any scratching, like some people complain about. So far I have cooked EVERYTHING in these two pans, i.e., grilled chicken, shrimp, beef, bacon, roasts, beans of all kinds, eggs, pancakes, oatmeal, wheat cereal, pastas, stir fries, soups, chilies, stews and even made a great pot of rice one night (yes, I do have a Zojirushi rice cooker also). I have not found much of anything I can't make in these two pans to put an excellent meal on the table with less mess and a much faster clean up. The pans require only hot water run over them, an OXO small soap dispensing brush swished around on the inside, rinsed and either dried immediately or left to air dry in my dish drying rack.I'm thrilled and now can get out of the kitchen in under 15 minutes or less after a meal is cooked, eaten and over with. I would not want to live w/o this wonderful electric skillet EVER!

Reliable

We love this Electric Skillet!!We cook with it several times a week. We bought it in 2012 and it is still working 14 years later. The heating element now seems to put out less heat and the pans are scratched, but it still works. For these reasons, it is time to replace it so we bought the same model. Fourteen years of constant use is more than we could have hoped for. This is well made.We like the magnet power cord that will disconnect if it is accidentally pulled on - this saves a mess on the floor. We like that the non-slip coating is ceramic rather than Teflon. Years ago we broke the glass cover, but that was easily replaced at low cost from Job Lot.This is an excellent electric skillet. We use both the shallow and deep pans. It does a great job with vegetables along with chicken, steak, and ribs. It braises the meats perfectly - which cannot be done if you bake in the oven. We have no need for the steamer tray.I cannot see how any electric skillet could be better than this one.

Hot Pot Heaven

I only use this for hot pot, but when dorming in college I ate many a meal cooked in this type of device by a friend. With that said, I haven't personally used it to cook eggs, vegetables, beef etc., although knowing how it works I can say it is an outstanding piece of equipment that is capable of pretty much doing every thing you would need short of being an oven. You can fry, you can steam, you can boil etc. It it is big or wide enough to do more than one thing at one time. If you are a college student that likes to cook, but doesn't have a stove this would be ideal. Very awesome indeed.I primarily use it for hot pot. The temperature is easy to control and responds very quickly to your selection. I didn't think I would like it being so wide and shallow because most hot pots that I have used are deep. There is a benefit to it being wide. 1. It heats faster because the heating area is wider. 2. You don't have to dig trying to find something. 3. It allows for you to spread out or strategically place your items in the pot vs. just throwing them into the abyss. 4. It is not crowded when eating and resulting in no chopstick fights between table mates.I didn't think I would like it because of how wide it is, but as you can see there are advantages. I must also say that even though it is shallow compared to the average hot pot, it probably holds more volume because of its width. If you fill it up, it will be enough for at least 4 people. Zojirushi makes excellent products. This is yet another one.*Update* May 2, 2014It has been several years since I reviewed this product. Everything is still working fine. I did manage to break the lid while moving and it cost roughly $50 to replace. Note to self...lid will not survive fall down flight of stairs. However that is not why I am writing this update. I just found out today that this product makes very good POPCORN. Sure you can do it an any old pan, but this where it being super wide and having a glass lid comes in handy. Just melt a little butter on low then throw in the seeds, crank up the heat and put the lid on. Voila. I can't believe I didn't try this before. I certainly didn't buy it to make popcorn, but darn this product just continues to amaze.
